WOODBRIDGE — Two men in a car grabbed a woman’s purse out of her hands, then drove off outside Woodbridge Center Monday night, authorities said today.
The victim, a 41-year-old Ford’s resident, was not injured and didn’t get a good look at the robbers, according to a report filed by a township police officer.
The incident occurred around 8:30 after the woman had parked her pickup truck in front of Dick’s Sporting Goods, the report said. When she started walking toward Macy’s, a dark car — possibly a black Fords Taurus — pulled alongside her. The passenger grabbed the silver Guess handbag then they drove off, police said.
The woman lost her driver’s license, car registration and $700 in cash.
A detective was called to investigate the robbery, police said.

Corzine selected State Sen. Loretta Weinberg of Bergen County as his running mate and Republican Christopher J. Christie named Monmouth County Sheriff Kim Guadagno to his ticket.
Independent Chris Daggett is running with Frank Esposito, a Kean University professor and former administrator from Ocean Township, Monmouth County.
On Oct. 8 they are scheduled to debate.
Rutgers University political scientist Ingrid Reed said the running mates will let the public know who will be in charge in case a governor doesn’t finish a term; they provide assurance that the successor would come from the same party and be part of the same administration.
The other duties of the office have been left vague and will largely depend on the agenda set by the governor and his top deputy.
Reed, director of the New Jersey Project at Rutgers’ Eagleton Institute of Politics, said that in other states without a specific mandate for the lieutenant governor, “it very often is not a very satisfying role.”
Descriptions of Weinberg, 74, have inevitably included the phrase “feisty Jewish grandmother.” A longtime assemblywoman with a progressive slant, Weinberg moved to the Senate after a fierce battle with Bergen County’s entrenched Democratic powers.
